Shani Leibowitz

Shani is the Senior Vice President of Transportation and Planning at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, managing the planning and transportation departments, focusing on strategies to support and guide the Yard's growth into 2030 and beyond.

I truly have a planner’s dream job. I am part of a team that executes on meaningful projects in an architecturally beautiful waterfront setting that expands opportunities for New Yorkers, protects the environment, and improves the quality of people’s lives.

Before coming to the Yard in 2007 as Deputy Director of Development and Planning, she began her planning career at BFJ Planning. She holds a bachelor’s in Journalism and Business from Indiana University and a master’s in Urban Planning from NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service. She belongs to the American Institute of Certified Planners and the American Planning Association.
