Minden Koopmans
Minden Koopmans is the Chief of Staff at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, leading efforts on strategic planning, special projects, and internal capacity building. Minden has over 15 years of experience working in government, management consulting, and at impact driven start-ups.
Prior to joining the Yard, she served as Director of Special Projects at the City University of New York’s School for Professional Studies, NYC’s leader in online adult education. She also led diverse consulting teams at Guidehouse on strategic planning, operational excellence, customer experience, and equitable program design projects for NYC and NYS agencies, including the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Metropolitan Transit Authority, NYC Department of Education, and New York City Housing Authority.
Prior to that, Minden served as Assistant Director of Strategy and Operations for the NYC Mayor’s Office of Economic Opportunity, leading performance management and conducting research for $100M+ portfolio of pilot programs designed to reduce poverty in New York City and developing the annual Social Indicators Report (now Equity NYC) using disaggregated data to analyze social conditions and City policies addressing disparities related to race, ethnicity, gender and gender identity and income. She also served as Assistant Director for a 40,000 sq. foot multi-disciplinary facility focused on incubating creative manufacturers and makers.
Minden lives in Williamsburg with her husband and son. She loves pizza, research and evaluation, and being able to walk to work at the Yard.
