Fire Guard

The Albert C. Wiltshire Employment Center recruits qualified candidates for positions within the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a 300-acre industrial park housing over 400+ businesses within the manufacturing, food, media, technology, and creative fields.

A Brooklyn Navy Yard-based manufacturer is seeking a full-time Fire Guard.

The Role:

The Fire Guard will perform regular fire safety inspections of vessel spaces under their care in which hot work is being performed. She/he will respond to fire emergencies by taking appropriate responsive action to extinguish fires. Must possess knowledge about vessel structure, location, and spaces in which work is performed.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the security, safety, and well-being of all personnel, visitors, and the premises
• Must be able to stand, walk up and downstairs
• Adhere to all company services and operating standards
• Remain in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
• Immediately respond to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to employees
• Protect the company’s assets relative to theft, assault, fire, and other safety issues
• Follow procedures for various initiatives, including fire prevention, property patrol, traffic control, and accident investigations

Training:
Onsite training provided to acquire the FDNY Certificate of Fitness for Fire Guard for Torch Operations.

Required:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

Preferred:

F-60 or F-01
