  • Assist senior management during the planning and implementation of new projects
  • Involved in all aspects of project management from planning, budget and scope development to vendor procurement, design and/or construction management to project closeouts
  • “Take ownership” of multiple design and construction projects concurrently, ensuring that they remain on schedule and within budget
  • Prepare Request for Proposals and/or Request for Bids, assist senior management in the evaluation process, prepare necessary contract documents, maintain project files and schedules; and propose and implement strategies for achieving more comprehensive and efficient procedures
  • Interface and negotiate with architects, engineers, construction managers, general contractors, sub-contractors and tenants
  • Maintain accurate and complete department files, both electronically and hard copy

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of and background in project management/construction management
  • Ability to draft memos, manage spreadsheets, and create documents using Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint
  • Strong sense of initiative with respect to resolving tenant issues and generally fulfilling job duties
  • Knowledge of NYC Construction Codes and permitting process
  • Ability to think creatively and contribute to the project’s success
  • Commitment to teamwork and an integrated approach to project delivery
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels – externally with tenants, consultants, and contractors, and internally with the Operations, Legal, Security, and Development Departments
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Construction Science, Construction Management and/or Architecture from an accredited four-year institution
  • Five to seven years of experience in planning, managing and coordination of design and construction projects
