The Employment Center identifies, pre-screens and places qualified job seekers in various types of employment.
Our team of workforce development professionals maintain relationships with employers who are offering full-time, part-time, permanent and/or temporary employment within the Brooklyn Navy Yard and surrounding communities.
We specialize in employment and training opportunities and are committed to providing employers with a diverse workforce.
Who We're Looking For
We specialize in placements for job seekers of all skill levels, with emphasis on local residents (including NYCHA residents), Veterans, and individuals with experience in the following sectors:
What We Provide
- Placements both inside and outside of the Yard
- Assistance with interviewing & other “soft” skills
- Training and education classes
- Support services post-placement
Brooklyn Workforce Innovations (BWI) is our job training partner and provides training across a broad spectrum of sectors. BWI leads the Brooklyn Workforce Collaboration, a consortium of leading workforce agencies.
How to Find Out More
The Employment Center is open daily 9:00am-4:30pm. Weekly Employment Center Orientations are held every Tuesday at 10am and 2pm, and all job seekers are strongly encouraged to attend in order to complete paperwork and briefly speak with our Employment Specialist. If you are not available on Tuesdays, we welcome job seekers to come in at any time to complete the paperwork to enroll in our job seeker pool.
To attend orientation, please arrive 30 minutes before orientation begins to fill out the enrollment paperwork before the orientation begins promptly at 10am or 2pm.
