Salary: $41.57/hour

Summary

The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) is a not-for-profit corporation that serves as the real estate developer and property manager of the Yard on behalf of its owner, the City of New York. We are seeking an Electrician to join our team to install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures throughout our facilities.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring systems and components, equipment and apparatuses such as switchgear, transformers, conduit, circuit breakers & panels, outlets, lighting systems, and motors in accordance with NYC electrical code
  • Splice wires up to 500 MCM at 600V
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of new and existing installations up to 600V to determine faults or hazards
  • Perform standard computations relating to electrical load requirements of wiring
  • Work with industry-specific hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
  • Interpret blueprints and technical diagrams
  • Label system components
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with team members while also demonstrating accountability in completing tasks independently
  • Maintain good housekeeping of work sites, electrical rooms, tools, and equipment
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Vocational or trade school training required
  • 5+ years related work experience required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Knowledge of building electrical codes required
  • OSHA 10 / OSHA 30 preferred
  • SST certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of NEC and NFPA 70E guidelines
