AVAILABILITY FOR FILM SHOOTING
The Navy Yard accommodates various types of location shoots, which include feature films, small independent productions, music videos, commercials, photo shoots and documentaries. Many of these productions choose the Navy Yard because it’s a controlled environment and no permits are needed. We allow shoots in vacant spaces that we control along with the many exteriors & open space under our jurisdiction. Here are a few of the shoots we’ve had:
| 1) |
Feature films: Mickey Blue Eyes, Donnie Brasco, Kiss of Death, Shaft, Vanilla Sky, Joe Gould’s Secret & Romeo is Bleeding. |
| 2) |
Television: Law & Order, New York Undercover, Third Watch, C.S.I. New York and HBO’s STOMP. |
| 3) |
Magazine photo shoots: The Source, Vibe, Essence, Vogue, Seventeen & Elle. |
| 4) |
Commercials: HBO’s Boxing After Dark promo, Chrysler commercial, Dean Koontz book promo, Late Night with Conan O’Brien promo, MTV M2 promo. |
Also, several film productions have used vacant space for shop space/cover sets. A few of these are:
The Yards, For The Love Of The Game and Serendipity.
We have also had the pleasure of hosting some of the world’s prominent photographers, e.g. Bruce Davidson, Annie Leibowitz & Steven Meisel.
Our fees are flexible and are based on several factors,
however, we rarely allow any shoot for less than $2,000 a day and we
always require them to provide us with liability insurance.
