Areas of Responsibility

  • Interface with the Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB) Supervising Analyst and the FEMA Public Assistance Crew Leader (PACL) for tracking and reporting of program/project data and progress
  • Assist BNYDC senior management during the planning and implementation of new projects
  • Oversee multiple design and construction projects concurrently, ensuring that they remain on schedule and within budget
  • Prepare Request for Proposals and/or Request for Bids, assist senior management in the evaluation process, prepare necessary contract documents, maintain project files and schedule, and propose and implement strategies for achieving more comprehensive and efficient procedures
  • Interface and negotiate with architects, engineers, construction managers, general contractors, sub-contractors and tenants
  • Maintain accurate and complete department files, both electronically and hard copy
  • Plan, Coordinate and Implement Infrastructure and Operations projects

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of and background in project management/construction management
  • Ability to draft memos, manage spreadsheets, and create documents using Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint
  • Strong sense of initiative with respect to resolving tenant issues and generally fulfilling job duties
  • Knowledge of NYC Construction Codes and permitting process
  • Ability to think creatively and contribute to the project’s success
  • Commitment to teamwork and an integrated approach to project delivery
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels – externally with tenants, consultants, and contractors,  and internally with the Operations, Legal, Security, and Development Departments
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Construction Science, Construction Management and/or Architecture from an accredited four-year institution required
  • Five to seven years of experience in planning, managing and coordination of design and construction projects preferred
